Synchronization between agents, music, and the senses, through embodied cognitive architectures

Mardi 13 septembre 2016 à 14 h en amphi Gauss (Centre de Recherches de l’UTC)

Résumé :

In this presentation, I will revisit the informational nature of human synchronization (i) between agents interacting socially, (ii) between music-entrained biological systems, (iii) between sensory modalities interacting perceptually. In all cases — social, biological, perceptual — a similar coordination dynamics approach is adopted, according to which stable states (and changes between them) are viewed as emergences resulting from the interaction of composite elements, modulated by informational quantities. In all cases, a common modelling & experimental approach is proposed, using theoretical and methodological tools from non-linear dynamics, multisensory psychophysics, and embodied cognition. New digital and personalized cognitive architectures will be presented, that modulate the synchronization regimes at these various levels, facilitate learning and rehabilitation, and improve health and wellness.
