Bertrand Ducourthial received the bachelor degree of Mathematics from Paris Sud University in 1992. In 1995, he received the M.Sc degree in Computer Science from Paris Sud University, and the Magistère d'Informatique Appliquée (Paris V and VI Universities). After working for one year in the Systèmes de Perception lab (french military agency), he joined the Institut d'Electronique Fondamentale and Laboratoire de Recherche en Informatique labs at Orsay to prepare his Ph.D. He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Paris Sud University in 1999. He then joined the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), and the Heudiasyc lab (UMR CNRS 6599), France.
Dr. Ducourthial is in charge of the computer systems and networks teaching specialty at the UTC. He managed several masters and PhD thesis. He regularly serves as committee member of scientific conferences. He received the «Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches» in 2005. He is full Professor since November 2010.
His research work deals with highly dynamic ad hoc networks (such as inter-vehicles networks): networking, distributed algorithms, security, software architecture… It is funded by industrial, regional, national and European grants.
