Indira Thouvenin is a professor (enseignant chercheur contractuel HDR rang A) at the CNRS Heudiasyc UMR 7253 laboratory at UTC (University of Technology of Compiègne - Sorbonne Universities).

She obtained her PhD in Biophysics at the University Pierre & Marie Curie in 1989 in the field of image processing for echocardiography, then joined the Institut Image ENSAM (Chalon sur Saone) in 1998 to participate in new research activities on virtual reality and computer graphics.

Since 2001, she has been focusing on informed virtual environment at CNRS Heudiasyc with two axes i.e. gestural interaction and adaptive feedback in virtual and augmented environments. In particular, she is the leader of the TRANSLIFE research programme with a two configuration CAVE.

She is currently a member of the steering committee and has been president of the AFRV (French Virtual Reality Association), member of the steering committee of the CNRS research group IG-RV, co-president of the Interaction and Metaphors group, member of the board of directors of Industrilab.

She is a member of several programme committees (ACM ISMAR, ACM Web 3D, ACM VRIC, HUCAPP, IEEE CSWD, ICoRD) and a member of the ITEN Unesco chaire.

She is responsible for the Virtual Reality Curse and a teaching unit for the Master UXD at UTC Sorbonne Universities. She teaches at the University Pierre & Marie Curie for the Master ANDROID.
