Starting 2026, I do not accept any PC/SPC/AC invitation to AI/ML/… conferences having more than 3000 submissions, nor am I the lead author/main proposer of any submission to those, as I believe that beyond this threshold (which is probably conservative), it becomes impossible to ensure a global high-quality reviewing process of scientifically advanced papers. I also do not encourage students to submit to such large scale events, preferring small-scale, specialized ones, but I still explain to them that these conferences are helpful for getting a job and gain visibility, and that they still “have” to play the game. I however do not forbid myself to be a co-author of one of those paper, provided I had a significant contribution to it.
